Dr. Larry D. Johnson is the under-shepherd the Holy Spirit has chosen to be over this flock serving under Jesus that Great Shepherd. An innovative leader, determined to leave footprints of righteousness in this generation and generations to come. Pastor Johnson has served this church and community for over 37 years. Teaching that as a believing church we can accomplish all things through Christ. Pastor Johnson believes the word of God has the power to transform lives. Named by his congregation “A man after God’s own heart,” Rev. J’s message of healing and restoration weaves humor, and wit with biblical exposition to reach people where they are while meeting ever relational, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical need.
This unconventional Pastor desires to transform the community and equip youth for the challenges they will face. We believe in the Matthew 25 model of ministry. Building mission minded individuals who take the gospel to the masses. Mentoring youth through the Summer Activities Club for Kids (SACK). Feeding the masses and making relationships a priority, strengthening marriages and building relationships across all boundaries.
Pastor Johnson makes his home in Jacksonville; AR. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of North Little Rock Senior high school. Received a certificate from Boyce Theological Seminary which is a division of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor Johnson holds a BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. A Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Ministry in Black Church studies from Ashland Theological Seminary. Dr. Johnson is married to his best friend and partner in Marriage and ministry the former Patricia “Lady J” Kelly Johnson. Together they have four children (one deceased) and seven grandchildren. Pastor Johnson enjoys traveling, reading, fishing, playing games and spending time with family.
